The ceasefire in Lebanon and recent events in Syria have triggered major population movements. WFP is closely monitoring this and adapting its assistance to support vulnerable families as they change location. In 2024, WFP supported 2.5 million people in Lebanon.
Overview
Shared meals will provide hot meals, ready-to-eat rations, food parcels, fresh bread, sandwiches and cash to displaced families in Lebanon.
WFP is scaling up its emergency food assistance to reach up to one million people affected by the current crisis in Lebanon. Before September 2024, hunger was already on the rise in Lebanon with almost a quarter of the population – 1.26 million people – being food insecure. Kitchens and hot meal operations have been set up in north and central Lebanon to prepare light meals for those seeking safety in shelters.
