Overview
Shared meals will provide life-saving support to people affected by historic flooding.
Mozambique is facing the worst floods in two decades, with central and southern provinces severely affected. Major rivers have overflowed, destroying homes, isolating communities and disrupting rescue operations. More than 600,000 people have been affected, and many are seeking refuge in accommodation centers. Displacement, crop losses and already high food insecurity are driving urgent, life‑saving needs across flood‑affected provinces. Shared meals will help WFP assist over 375,000 people through food vouchers, enabling families to immediately access staple foods. WFP is also closely coordinating with the government to ensure prioritization of the most vulnerable as population movements evolve. As one of the poorest countries, Mozambique is also one of the most affected by extreme weather events and climate change.
