A recent Integrated Security Phase Classification (IPC) report indicates that 6.5 million people are expected to face crisis levels of hunger or worse in March, with the situation remaining critical into April. Shared meals are critical to vulnerable communities.

Overview

Shared meals will provide life-saving food, school meals and nutrition support to people affected by conflict and displacement in Somalia.

Somalia is facing a worsening hunger crisis driven by conflict, political instability and repeated climate shocks. Armed clashes and insecurity have displaced millions, while droughts and floods continue to destroy crops and livelihoods. Close to 6.5 million people are facing high levels of hunger. Many families are struggling to access food and healthcare, causing them further instability. The World Food Programme (WFP) is providing life-saving food and nutrition assistance to vulnerable families across Somalia, including those displaced by conflict, droughts and floods. Through emergency food distributions, cash transfers, and school meals, WFP is helping families meet their immediate needs while supporting local markets and farmers. Critical humanitarian supplies are being delivered to hard-to-reach areas, while cash transfers are supplied before droughts and floods strike.
