About
Our purpose is to use the power of music to make a real impact. “Sounds for Peace” turns every note into hope supporting the United Nation World Food Programme (WFP) to provide meals for those facing severe food insecurity. Through this challenge, we aim to bring people together, raise awareness about the urgent need to fight hunger, and show that even a small contribution can create a meaningful difference

Sounds for Peace
About
On Friday, 30 January at 7:30 p.m., in the prestigious Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, the charity concert for choir and orchestra “Sounds for Peace” will take place. On this occasion, Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem will be performed. The event is organized by the University of Vienna in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Vienna, the Permanent Mission of Italy to the International Organizations, the Permanent Mission of Italy to the OSCE, and the Italian Cultural Institute. The concert has a charitable purpose and aims to raise funds to be donated to the World Food Programme, specifically to the “ShareTheMeal” initiative in support of populations facing severe food insecurity. The chosen date for the concert is symbolically set during the so-called Olympic Truce, the tradition of ceasing hostilities that accompanies the Olympic Games. This period, recognized by the United Nations, precedes the opening of the Games and represents a moment for reflection and commitment to peace. The concert therefore anticipates the spirit of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, which will begin on 6 February, reaffirming the values of solidarity, dialogue, and international cooperation.
