Overview

Shared meals will provide food rations, cash assistance and school meals to people in Haiti.

Over half the population of Haiti— 5.8 million people —don't have enough to eat. This is due to violence from armed groups, an economic crisis and vulnerability to extreme weather. Conflict has displaced 1.5 million people, and southern Haiti is still recovering from Hurricane Melissa, which hit at the end of 2025. The World Food Program (WFP) is on the ground providing assistance including food rations, cash and school meals to vulnerable Haitians. WFP has reached nearly 2 million people in 2026 so far, including providing more than $40 million worth of cash to help families meet their basic food needs. WFP is also working with the Government to provide school meals for over 630,000 children nationwide. Of these meals, 72% are made from locally grown products purchased from Haitian farmers. This initiative gives children healthy food, supports smallholder farmers while boosting the local economy.World Food Program
