Overview

Shared meals will help scale up emergency food assistance to vulnerable, conflict-impacted Iranians on the move.

Since late February 2026, military escalation in and around Iran have disrupted civilian infrastructure and triggered significant temporary movement of people. Current estimates indicate that more than three million people have temporarily left their homes, many of whom faced challenges accessing affordable food. In close coordination with relevant national authorities and UN partners, WFP is preparing to scale up emergency food assistance over a three‑month period. This support is intended to complement national response efforts and help stabilize access to food, particularly in areas where markets and supply chains have been disrupted. WFP is mobilizing available resources and working with partners to ensure a timely, coordinated response, so that affected populations can further maintain access to essential food support.
