The ceasefire in Lebanon and recent events in Syria have triggered major population movements. WFP is closely monitoring this and adapting its assistance to support vulnerable families as they change location. In 2024, WFP supported 2.5 million people in Lebanon.
Overview
Shared meals will provide life-saving aid to displaced families in Lebanon.
The World Food Programme is deeply concerned about the evolving situation in Lebanon and reports of increasing displacement. Before September 2024, hunger was already on the rise in Lebanon with almost a quarter of the population - 1.26 million people - being food insecure. WFP remains on the ground in Lebanon, operating in areas where it is safe to do so. This includes dispatching food parcels including ready-to-eat rations and dry commodities in Mount Lebanon, Central and West Bekaa and Zgharta North Lebanon. WFP has prepositioned food supplies in Lebanon over the past few months and is standing by, ready to assist up to one million people through cash, food, ready-to-eat rations and hot meals.
