Overview
Shared meals will provide life-saving food and assistance to communities affected by ongoing conflict, displacement and hunger.
Lebanon is facing a rapidly escalating humanitarian emergency as intensified conflict has led to casualties and forced displacement of tens of thousands of people. Violence has meant entire communities are being forced from their homes, with many villages ordered to evacuate. The Lebanese Government is preparing evacuation shelters as families leave everything behind in search of safety. The World Food Programme (WFP) is scaling up emergency operations across Lebanon to support families uprooted by conflict. Within hours of shelters opening, WFP was on the ground — providing hot meals, ready-to-eat rations, and bread to families who had nowhere else to turn. WFP is working with the Government to implement an emergency cash safety net that can reach up to 100,000 people if the situation deteriorates further.
